LOCKDOWN AND POVERTY
COVID-19 which was first detected in Wuhan, China has now spread throughout the world. After the enormous outbreak of the virus, the countries are on the period of lockdown. With more than 4 million cases the lockdown is being made more severe.
In some developed countries, the government has taken the responsibility of their citizens. But when we look at country like ours the citizens’ life is going through a rough patch.
For some this lockdown is all about enjoying time with family, taking rest and giving time to their hobbies. But those people out there, who earn their livelihood through their work of regular basis, their life has become miserable. We can see people making variety of food items at home and posting them online but there are people who are dying to even fill their stomach. Despite having everything necessary in life people complain about life being unfair but do they ever think how unfair is a life of a father who has to see his child crying because of a hungry stomach?
In Nepal, 25% of people are living below the poverty line. So the effect of this lockdown is beyond the imagination of normal people. The low wage workers and their family have been suffering. You can even hear people committing suicide. It is extremely difficult for people to go back home to their families.
Today, with how my life is I feel lucky enough to write this article. And the readers out there: if you are getting proper food to consume and have your needs fulfilled, feel happy and appreciate everything you have got.
At last ,if you can help the people out there do not miss the opportunity. A small help might not mean anything to you but it would mean a lot to the needy ones.
